Wi-Fi or Wireless fidelity has become a ubiquitous part of our daily lives in recent years. A new technology – Li-Fi – Light Fidelity has emerged which will probably revolutionize short-distance wireless communication in coming years.
Li-Fi (Light Fidelity) is a bidirectional, high speed and fully networked wireless communication technology similar to Wi-Fi. It is coined by Prof. Harald Haas.It is wireless and uses visible light communication or infra-red and near ultraviolet (instead of radio frequency waves) spectrum, and can carry much more information than Wi-Fi.
The data transfer speed can be as high as 50MB/s which is quite tantalizing.
